Arrivals in Sardinia, +5% in the first 15 days of July
The first 15 days of July 2024 saw a significant increase in arrivals in Sardinia. Both the 2023 and 2019 arrivals were exceeded. The analysis was conducted by UniOlbia’s Communication and Studies Centre on data from the Sardegna Mobilità (Sardinia Mobility) website, which is updated daily.
685 thousand arrivals in 15 days
In the period from 1 to 15 July 2024, total arrivals in Sardinia were 685,161, with an increase of 4.92% compared to the same period in 2023 and a considerable +8.36% compared to 2019, the last year before the pandemic. The growth is particularly evident at airports, which saw an increase of 7.85% compared to 2023 and 18.11% compared to 2019, totaling 403,493 arrivals, equal to 58.9% of arrivals.
More in airports than in ports
Sardinian airports have played a key role in this positive trend, reflecting a greater preference for flights among tourists. The arrivals in the ports, although in increase regarding 2023 with a +0.99%, have shown a slight decrease of 3.09% regarding the numbers of 2019, totaling 281,668 arrivals.
In Olbia 55% of the arrivals
Olbia is still the main destination, registering 380,651 arrivals in the first 15 days of July 2024, which represents an increase of 5.75% compared to 2023 and a remarkable +23.31% compared to 2019. The city welcomed 188,348 arrivals at the airport, an increase of 10.54% compared to 2023 and 29.54% compared to 2019. Also the port of Olbia has shown a growth, with 192,303 arrivals, marking an increase of 1.45% compared to 2023 and 17.77% compared to 2019.
In the first 15 days of July, Olbia represented 55.56% of total arrivals in Sardinia, an increase compared to 55.12% in 2023 and 48.82% in 2019. The increase consolidates the role of Olbia as a point of access and primary tourist destination on the island. The door of Sardinia, as they say.
