University in Olbia, 5 degree courses from 2024/2025
Olbia continues to consolidate its position as a university hub, offering five degree courses for the academic year 2024/2025, including two brand new ones, thanks to the collaboration between the Universities of Sassari and Cagliari and the newly formed UniOlbia consortium. This represents a significant step forward for the city and Gallura, which are committed to creating an academic environment at the cutting edge in the strategic sectors of tourism and boating.
New degree courses
Among the most significant news there are the degree courses in Naval Engineering, offered by the University of Cagliari and fourth in Italy, and in Nursing, offered by the University of Sassari, the first in medicine outside the capital. These courses will complement the already established programmes in Tourism Economics, offered by the Department of Economic and Business Sciences (Disea) of the University of Sassari. The two new courses respond to the growing demand for qualified professionals in key sectors for Sardinia and Italy, which is a world leader in the production of superyachts.
The course of Naval Engineering has been designed to prepare students for careers in the nautical sector, a sector that in Olbia and throughout Sardinia is of primary importance, being the fifth "company" of the island by turnover. The lessons will be held in the renovated premises of the former Sep in the Roman Port. Registration is already open, and students can find more details on the programme and how to register here.
At the same time, the Nursing course, in collaboration with Mater Olbia, aims to train highly qualified health personnel, responding to the growing demand for nurses in Italy. The lessons will be held in a modern building of the Mater Olbia. Entrance tests for this course will be held shortly, and all details are available here.
In addition to these, the courses of the Disea in Economy and Tourism are confirmed, for which registration is already open. These programmes have attracted over the years students not only from Sardinia, but also from other Italian regions and abroad, helping to strengthen the attractiveness of Olbia as an academic centre. More information can be found here.
Accommodation for out-of-town students
To facilitate the stay of out-of town students, the Cipnes - in agreement with institutional partners - has made available 50 accommodation in the Geovillage of Olbia. These 4-star accommodations are designed to offer a comfortable and stimulating environment, perfectly integrated into the university and city context. They are the first part of a more ambitious project that will transform the Geovillage into the University Campus of Olbia.
The calls for proposals for accommodation, managed by the ERSU of Sassari and Cagliari, are currently open and will close at the beginning of September. Students interested in participating can find all the necessary information and application procedures on the website of ERSU of Sassari here e and on the website of ERSU of Cagliari here.
The accommodation is easily connected by Aspo lines to the course locations of the degree courses.
Olbia, a young city
With these new courses, Olbia not only consolidates its role as a leading tourist destination, but also transforms itself into a dynamic and welcoming university city. The presence of innovative degrees and the offer of quality housing make Olbia an ideal choice for young people looking for a stimulating environment in which to grow both professionally and personally.
The UniOlbia consortium, together with partner universities and local institutions, is working to create an academic ecosystem that supports the training of new professionals and attracts talent from all over Italy and beyond. This investment in human capital is intended to further strengthen the identity of Olbia as a city for young people, ready to play a leading role in the educational and professional scenario of the future.
