The Olbia University Library named after Don Raimondo Satta

Another step forward in the transformation of Olbia into a university and education city. The City recently approved a resolution laying the foundations for the creation of a new university library at the service of the community and students. It will be built next to the palace of Olbia Expo, which today houses the headquarters of the Consorzio Polo Universitario Olbia, known as UniOlbia.

The future library will be named after Don Raimondo Satta, an emblematic figure of the Olbia and Gallura community and one of the founders of UniOlbia.

Born in 1960 and who died in June 2022, Don Raimondo Satta left an indelible mark on the religious and academic life of the region, distinguishing himself for his dedication and his spirit of service to the community.

His work in the church of Stella Maris in Porto Cervo, the management of the Euro-Mediterranean Institute and the Higher Institute of Religious Sciences of Sassari-Tempio Ampurias, his numerous books, all this testifies to the commitment of Don Raimondo Satta in promoting education and culture in Gallura.

The municipal resolution underlines the importance of Don Satta not only as a spiritual and intellectual guide but also as a fundamental pillar in the creation of the university consortium UniOlbia. Don Raimondo was also, until his death, a board member of UniOlbia.

The university library is conceived as a resource center for students and the community, equipped with reading rooms, a reception area, a classroom for screenings and spaces dedicated to the internet. There will also be the establishment of a book fund brothers Satta. Don Gianni Satta, brother of Don Raimondo, is the parish priest of the church of San Paolo in Olbia, a few steps from the new library.

This project will not only enrich the educational offer of UniOlbia but will also become a cultural point of reference for the entire city.

Olbia becomes more and more - as the title of the municipal resolution states - "university and education city".
