Strong growth of technology companies in Gallura

With a growing number of companies involved in ITC (Information and Communications Technology), Gallura is consolidating as a center of technological innovation in Sardinia.

The spotlight on this growing phenomenon was lit by the Chamber of Commerce of Northern Sardinia with the "Osservatorio Economico del Nord Sardegna 2023” ("Economic Observatory of Northern Sardinia 2023").

In the report it is written that 55 municipalities in northern Sardinia out of 90 host innovative companies and that in Gallura there is the most significant concentration: in 21 Gallura municipalities out of 26 there is in fact at least one ICT company, demonstrating the vitality of the local entrepreneurial fabric.

The establishment of the Department of Innovation of the University of Sassari in Olbia, a fundamental element to expand the educational offer in the field of technology and encourage the growth of the territory, will strengthen this vocation.

According to the analysis of the Chamber of Commerce, based on the data of the business register, in the first 10 most innovative municipalities, 6 are from Gallura: Olbia, Arzachena, Tempio, La Maddalena, Palau, Santa Teresa Gallura.

"In Gallura there is a degree of diffusion about twice as much as in Sassari" observes the Chamber of Commerce.

Gallura stands out not only for the quantity, but also for the quality of the entrepreneurial initiatives, ranging from technological startups to projects of digitization of traditional services.

Olbia has 196 ICT companies active in 2022, with a growth of 1%. Arzachena has 42 (+7.7%). Palau 11 (+10%).

"It is interesting to note that the growth rate of ITC companies is more robust in coastal municipalities than in the hinterland, with Palau and Arzachena in the lead" reports the Chamber of Commerce.

The University of Sassari is fully committed to this challenge with the establishment of the Department of Innovation in Olbia, which will enrich the educational offer of UniOlbia. An opportunity to strengthen technological and digital skills, train professionals of the future and fuel the economic growth of Gallura.

Innovation thus becomes a fundamental pillar for the development of the territory, attracting investment and skills and encouraging sustainable growth. The new Department of the University of Sassari represents a significant step forward in this direction, consolidating the role of Olbia as the Sardinian capital of innovation.
